About the Artist
Maryanne Pollock is a graduate of the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and continued her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Corcoran College of Art and Design, and American University with graduate studies in painting.
Paintings
All paintings are visual journals from my travels and memories. Rome, Paris, and D.C. are some of the many cities where the obelisk connects us to our collective ancient past. Living, working, and exhibiting extensively in Egypt for six years profoundly changed my work.
The small paintings, titled Transit Series, mostly mixed media, watercolor, and prismacolor pencils, are painted on buses, trains, in hotel rooms, and subways. They are personal mementos from different places in the world that I am fortunate enough to visit.
